This position supports existing capabilities and contributes to the development of new methodologies and technology for data-driven TV advertising. The role also involves database architecture, management, audience forecasting, and optimization.
The Data Scientist will collaborate with team members (TVP Research and broader Xandr teams), both to build out specific projects and to continuously teach and learn new technology and techniques.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of applying deep, creative, rigorous thinking to solve broad technical and/or business problems and be able to communicate findings and solutions clearly to a variety of audiences, e.g. writing clear, comprehensive specs for engineers or explaining algorithmic concepts to product managers.
Develop New Data Features and Methodologies
Working with Xandr teams, create systems for analyzing Xandr Audience data
Design alternative data methodologies to maximize audience measurement accuracy and utility
Analyze validity and accuracy of alternative methodologies
Create reports for internal and external data users, explaining methodologies and audience estimates
Assess accuracy of Xandr’s TV audience and campaign forecasts
Identify areas for improvement and contribute to methodology enhancement
Brainstorm new and enhanced methodologies based on product requirements
Design steps for processing and cleaning of data and methodology implementation
Create programs that implement methodologies
Execute experiments and gather results
Generate performance statistics and deliver recommendations to the Data Science team
Collaborate with Engineering to deliver new methodologies in the product
Perform custom client analyses
Create analyses measuring performance KPIs for stages of the advertising schedule lifecycle
Execute experiments comparing various viewing methodologies to inform best practices for clients
Accreditation, Certification, or Licenses
Minimum BS degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field.
Training and Special Skills
Practical experience with at least one of the following programming languages/platforms: Python, R, Go, SAS
Experience working with and creating production-level data architectures.
Familiarity with AWS services
Extensive experience with SQL
Good applied statistics skills, such as statistical testing, regression
Understanding of the following principles: Time Series, Feature Engineering, Data Manipulation & Cleaning
Experience deploying machine learning models in a production environment a big plus
Willingness and ability to learn new techniques
Passion for data exploration and a desire to deliver quality analyses
Strong verbal and written communication skills
